My Visit to Thailand

Sunset Bird 2Recently, someone asked me about my dream job. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I love a nice hotel and I really enjoy good food. So if someone would pay me to visit nice hotels and eat at nice restaurants, that would certainly be a dream. The second answer I gave was that I’d love  to buy a piece of beachfront property in Thailand and become a novelist. I’m not real sure why I thought that was a good idea since I’d never visited Thailand and don’t have the creative imagination to become a novelist. However, now that I’ve been to #Thailand,  I think I could totally live on the beach and write all day. Yeah…dream job number 2! Read more

Jet Settin’ One Last Time

IMG_2514Well this is the last trip I have planned and I’m beyond excited. If you recall, I postponed my Thailand trip back in September. This time, it’s a much shorter trip and I’m only going to one place but I am finally getting a chance to experience Thailand. I’m flying to Phuket in a matter of hours and will spend the next few days in Khao Lak. Read more

Abu Dhabi – Nice

Rosewood Deck

View from the Rosewood hotel

I knew before I left this region I wanted to see Abu Dhabi. I’m so glad I did. Let me start by saying this was a long weekend courtesy of my @Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and my Qatar Airways Privilege  Miles. Yes, a weekend at a five start hotel and I only paid for food. I’m certainly going to miss all of this when it comes to an end.

I stayed at the Rosewood Hotel downtown at the suggestion of a friend. The hotel is phenomenal. I always appreciate being addressed by name and from the moment I stepped out of the taxi, everyone knew my name (even though he looked at my luggage tag ;)). While checking in, I was greeted with a delicious welcoming drink that would have tasted great with a shot of Patron, I imagine. I was escorted to my room and shown how to work all the gadgets. Everything in the room was electronic which was great at 3 in the morning when I wanted to turn the AC on and didn’t have to get out of bed. The room was spotless and the view of the skyline and waterfront topped it off. I truly enjoyed my stay at the Rosewood. Read more

Fun Times in California

My sister and me at the President’s Party in Long Beach

The 2015 AWHONN President’s Party was a lot of fun. As usual, the ladies in the OR Section know how to have a good time. I’m not sure how every city we go to has such an amazing band. Last night’s band was pretty good. The only thing I’m going to say about Becky and Robin is “Trading Places”. Oh how I love those ladies! Read more

Hanging at the AWHONN President’s Party.

I must say, as much as I love living abroad, there’s a sense of comfort that comes over me when I land in the US. This was my first trip into LAX and I arrived in the international terminal. It’s a very nice terminal, clean, well spaced and efficient. This was my second time coming home using the Global Entry system and it’s nice. I don’t normally check my bags so I really could have saved close to an hour if I had not checked a bag. I’ll make it my business to only have a carry-on next time. Read more

Heading Back to the States

IMG_2174Right now I’m flying somewhere over the Atlantic. Each time I prepare for these ridiculously long flights I wonder what I’m going to do to keep myself occupied. This time, I’m going to watch movies. I’m not a big movie buff and my attention span is quite low when it comes to movies. However, I’m going to give it a whirl. So far, I have one under my belt for this flight: The Second Best Marigold Hotel. It was a great movie with some much-needed laughs. Read more

Pretty Restful Week

2014 @AWHONN Convention – Disney World

I haven’t been up to much since my last post. I had the week off and I’ve had some opportunities to demonstrate patience. I can’t say just how successful I was in that demonstration but I am a work in progress.  Read more
