Jaden planned to come to #Houston for #Thanksgiving. He loves the idea of being with family and it would literally just be him and me. I asked him if he wanted to spend the holiday in #KansasCity with some of my #family. He didn’t hesitate to say yes to that suggestion. So we planned to meet in Kansas City, MO for Thanksgiving.
Jaden arrived several hours before me and was retrieved from the airport by my sister Jamica. They had a chance to hang out at her house with her kids, including my three little nephews. The new baby, Trey, was born just weeks before and I was so excited to see him. I’ve noticed that the older I get, the more I love cuddling the new babies. My nephew, Amir (4), likes to check up on me every now and then and will video chat with me. Sometimes he calls from such random places, like under his mother’s bed! Amir is also crazy about Jaden. I couldn’t wait for those two to get together!
I’m always quick to invite people to the Pacific Northwest because it’s such a beautiful part of the country and I want everyone to experience it. Since I’ve been home, not only have I hosted one sister and 2 nephews, I hosted another sister as well! My sister got a special Pacific NW experience…I took her hiking!
I have had the pleasure of hosting my sister and 2 nephews for nearly three weeks. It has been great! And the star of the show has been my 2 1/2 year old nephew, Amir. He is sweet as pie and a handful all at the same time. It’s amazing how much I saw him grow in just a short time; from eating more to speaking much more clearly. I’m still having a hard time getting him to put “Auntie” in front of Kendra but we’ll get there eventually. I’ve also never seen anyone eat so many peanut butter crackers! It was also great when he overflowed the toilet! Yes… having a toddler around keeps everyone on their toes. I’ll miss his little good morning hugs. Continue reading The Star of the Show→
It’s been nice to have a break from working and my time has been quite productive. I’ve managed to get my house back in order. It’s spic and span and I’m working on getting my yard in the condition I want it. Part of the yard work of course is getting my garden going. With the help of my sister, Mica, and my 2-year-old nephew Amir, we planted the first starters of the season: peas and lettuce and my herb garden is all set. It felt good to be back in the garden. I’m a little uncertain about the lettuce though, it’s looking pretty sad. Hopefully it’ll come around. I’ve also gotten my compost going again. I really enjoy this entire process.
