A Tiny Bit of Seattle

0

I hit the road for the quick 2.5 hour drive to #Seattle. I met Quincy Phillip, CEO of Staff Only, in Doha. He’s a real stand up guy and will have you laughing like a crazy person! In his spare time, he’s the drummer in Roy Hargrove’s band. So when the band was scheduled to play at the fantastic Jazz Alley in Seattle, of course I had to check them out! Continue reading

Jazz in NYC

img_2726I love Jazz. I’m no jazz historian but I love the genre. One thing that I looked forward to during my NYC trip was to finally see @ChrisBotti at the @BlueNoteNYC . This year marks his 12th year doing a residency during the month of December at this particular jazz club. I’ve seen him at large concert halls performing with his band and the orchestra behind him. But the chance to see him in an intimate setting in NYC intrigued me. I was not disappointed. This was a concert that I will remember for some time to come. Not only is Chris an extremely talented musician, he’s a performer at heart. His band is also phenomenal. Even though his band has turned over since the last time I saw him, he has put together an amazing group of musicians. And…Ms. Sy Smith @Sybersoace is still with him. Her beauty, grace and voice exuberates the soul. I’m in love with the music, captured by the Live in Boston album, I’m a loyal fan. The night we were there, The Ms. Cicely Tyson was present Continue reading

Undefeated by the NY Subway!

I had great plans for my NYC experience yesterday. I had one big barrier: NYC Metro. A little something about me…I have a tiny phobia of mass public transportation. Yes, I am finally admitting this to the world. After taking a couple of Uber rides in NYC and having the drivers cancel rides and standing out in the cold waiting, I thought I’d give the metro a try. I mean, I was successful riding the Metro in other big cities. Although #TheTube in #London was too intimidating for me. I figured I’d try the NY subway but I would not  get on a bus. That’s my ultimate fear! Continue reading

NYC – I’m Hooked!

img_2536Many people have found it unbelievable that I’d never been to NYC. Yes, I’ve been across the world and never explored one of the most popular cities in the USA. Christmas in #NY seemed like a magical thought so I decided that a trip to the #BigApple was just what Jaden and I needed for Christmas. Continue reading

Fremont Street

Wow so I had a great time while in #Vegas over the thanksgiving holiday. It was certainly a break from tradition and I enjoyed every moment of it. I took time to get off the strip which was vital to staying sane for 6 days in Vegas.

I took the hour plus drive out to Red Rock Canyon. It was an easy ride and Vegas has great highways. The line to get into the canyon was a bit long and it took about 15 minutes to get through. Then it was a picturesque drive through the canyon. There’s some construction currently happening Continue reading

Vegas Baby Round II – Food & the Digs

img_2375When my neighbors invited me to #LasVegas for Thanksgiving, It sounded like a great chance to do something very different from the normal holiday routine. While they stayed a few days, I was crazy enough to stay six! You must know by now how much I enjoy traveling and the hotel life. So I didn’t go crazy in #Vegas being there six days, I managed to get in some much needed R&R!

I stayed at the #Encore in a king suite. The room was great. It included a living area and it was pretty cool that I could spin the TV around depending on whether I was in bed or in the living area. (I later found out that the room I had was the lowest level room. I can’t image what an upgrade would look like!). The room was spotless and the bed begged me to climb in. And yes, I climbed in at every opportunity.  Continue reading
