Enjoying Family

IMG_0423It’s been nice to have a break from working and my time has been quite productive. I’ve managed to get my house back in order. It’s spic and span and I’m working on getting my yard in the condition I want it. Part of the yard work of course is getting my garden going. With the help of my sister, Mica, and my 2-year-old nephew Amir, we planted the first starters of the season: peas and lettuce and my herb garden is all set. It felt good to be back in the garden. I’m a little uncertain about the lettuce though, it’s looking pretty sad. Hopefully it’ll come around. I’ve also gotten my compost going again. I really enjoy this entire process.

The three of us and the new baby have been out and about exploring vintage stores and nurseries. Going to some of my old spots brought a smile to my face. Seeing familiar faces at places like @TheBoxSoical and @Tasarios made me feel at home. Oh how I’ve missed the @PacificNorthwest.

This weekend we took a road trip to Bremerton to see my brother and his family. I truly enjoy road trips with Jaden. We have such a good time! We both love music and while I may not know most of his music, I know enough. The best part is that he knows most of my music and it’s always a treat to introduce him to something new…The newest song I introduced him to is Overnight Celebrity – by @Twistagmg. Lol, yeah, that’s funny. He loves the song and we played it at least three times in a row! With today’s technology, Jaden decided to vlog a bit on the road trip. However, he refuses to put me in the vlog. I guess I’m not quite cool enough to make the vlog.

It’s been a great weekend full of good food and fun. My brother has always been one to get new gadgets. The Traeger grill isn’t new but it’s the first time I’ve seen it. He smoked some bacon and some baby back ribs that were out of this world. They were so tender and flavorful. Medina made an amazing cole slaw. I’m certainly going to make some for my next party.

  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 jalapeno (no seeds)
  • Put all but mayo in a bowl & blend. Stir in mayo. Add this to coleslaw.

Oh and my niece, Ravyn, remember her? The one who just came to see me in Doha? Yeah, she made some killer carrot cupcakes from scratch with the most amazing icing I’ve ever had! You all know how I feel about cupcakes. They were so moist and delicious! She can certainly come and work in David  @dharding7 and my cheesecake bakery….

Anyway, I got a spin on my brother’s motorcycle. Something I’ve not done in years! It was so wonderful. I must get me one of those and my goal will be a custom bike from none other than Rottweiler Motorcycles.

We spent our last night hanging out on the back deck enjoying beautiful #PacificNorthwest weather. Now I’m looking forward to sitting on my deck and watching the sun set. I haven’t done that yet since I’ve been back and I can’t wait to do that.

It’s been fun and I’m still living life and it’s good.
