Choose Good Not Bad

My days are so mixed up! My timing has been a week off and I can’t quite figure out why. I even forgot today was payday. Doh! Where is my mind? No clue.

Anyway, I was sitting around yesterday and I thought, I need to go somewhere this weekend. So I logged in to the Chase Ultimate Rewards site to see how far I could get with my points. I could have gone to Sri Lanka or back to the Maldives but I narrowed it down to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and Oman. Ninety minutes to 3 hours on the plane for a weekend seemed much more practical than 9 hours.  I thought, I can literally hit the button and just go to another country in 2 days with no out-of-pocket expenses except food. I’m adventurous but I try not to be impulsive.

I decided to hold off for a bit and would revisit this thought later in the day. In the mean time I thought about one of my recent blogs It’s Nice to be Still. Just a couple of weeks ago I talked about being exhausted and how having a chance to be home and enjoy my surroundings was so great! Ummm, well, I’m ready to go again! Even though I will leave in 17 days and be gone for nearly 2 weeks, I need to go! A person can get used to 50+ days of paid time off!

In the end, I decided not to go anywhere. Yeah, I’m going to try to stick it out and wait those 17 days for my proper vacation. However, I will head to the spa Friday for 4 hours of pampering: 90 minute hot stone massage, 90 minute foot treatment (not that my feet need 90 minutes of treatment), and a 60 minute facial. Ahhh I can’t wait. Then I’ll come home and veg out in front of the television and have a glass of wine. I have a plan! The fact that I can hop on a plane and be in the next country in 45 minutes or spend 4 hours at the spa for about $200 or eat at a 5 star hotel for $30 is crazy! I’m loving life and have no complaints.

Yes, the tone of my blog is a little different today and it’s because I’m trying to block out all the back ground noise. I’m not bragging. I truly am grateful and am quite annoyed by those who can’t appreciate the opportunity that we’ve all been given to be where we are. One of my favorite sayings is “Life is about choices”. You can choose to hang with the right crowd or you can choose to hang with the wrong crowd. You can choose to eat that spinach salad or you can choose to eat a triple stacked bacon cheese burger with chili cheese fries. You can choose to see the good in situations or you can choose to see the bad in situations. I am choosing to see the good because it certainly outweighs the bad. Choosing good makes a person happier too. Why be miserable all the damn time? That won’t be me. I’ve come through too much crap to seek out the bad. So, I’m happy & healthy & looking forward to my next adventure. For now…that adventure will be the spa in 3 days! That alone makes me happy.

Living life…and it’s good!
