I haven’t been up to much since my last post. I had the week off and I’ve had some opportunities to demonstrate patience. I can’t say just how successful I was in that demonstration but I am a work in progress.
Over the past week I’ve come to learn just how meaningful it is for others to demonstrate kindness and caring. Being a nurse, my expectations for being cared for or even feeling cared for are minimal because I’m the caregiver in my profession. I must say, however, that being on the receiving end is a blessing. I’m grateful for the people in my life and my small but mighty circle here in Doha. I am also grateful for those back home who look out for me also. So thank you. And that’s about as much mushiness you’re gonna get from me for now!
Next week, I’m very excited to be heading to Long Beach! This will be my 5th consecutive @AWHONN National Convention; a time of learning, networking, catching up with great friends and colleagues, and just having fun! For those in women’s and neonatal nursing, this is a conference you must attend at least once in your professional career. Next year it will be in Dallas. Much more centrally located so my Tulsa friends, I hope to see many of you there. I’m excited to have my sister join me as a guest at the conference. I’ll see to it that she’ll have a blast.
I’ve also taken this opportunity to work in a vacation with my college friends. We always have a great time and I’m looking forward to exploring Hollywood and getting into so fun things. Yes, this will be my first time in Hollywood so expect lots of pictures and a blog to follow.
Lastly, my son will meet me in LA and come back to Qatar with me for the summer. Yes, I know it’s hot but it’s the only time he can come. I’m excited to introduce him to the culture and so many other things. Giving him opportunities that I would have never thought possible warms my heart.
Living life…and it’s good.
